I don't think that the color matters in this case. If you pursched it at the store-just go there and they should give you new iPod.If you got it from second hand use than I don't think you can fix it by yourself. :/ unfortunatelly for you.
May not be broken, Check to see if you have it on lock. At the top of your nano there is a switch that locks everything in place just slide it to the left. The switch is hard to see.

Is it on hold. if so take it off hold and your ipod might work.(Hold is the button on top that you flip and it turns on and off.)
